Google did not ban AI. It demotes pages that could have been written about anyone, anywhere. Two hundred “best web design in [city]” posts that swap the city name are not a strategy. They are a waste of crawl budget and a tell that you have nothing to say.
The method that still works: pick a query a real buyer types, outline the sections they need, draft with a model, then add the parts only you can add — how you bill, what you refuse, what broke, the New Mexico LLC on the invoice. That last third is the article.
Start from demand, not from a keyword list of 3,000
Ten queries are enough for a year if they match what you sell: web design Albuquerque, digital agency New Mexico, Stripe checkout for a US LLC, booking site for a local shop. For each query, write the outline by hand: what the reader is trying to decide, the mistakes, the steps, the legal bits. Then draft.
The human pass is not optional
Delete adjectives that could apply to any agency. Add a number you have actually used (50/50 billing, 30-day retainer cancel, reply within a business day). Add a no: we will not run a content farm. If after the pass the page still could be about a firm in another state with the names swapped, it is not done.
Technical SEO is still the floor
One H1. A title that matches the search. A meta description a human would click. Canonical. Sitemap. Fast TTFB. Internal links to /agency, /pricing, /contact. For local: NAP consistent with Google Business and the footer. AI will not fix a five-second template.
What we will write, and what we will not
We will help you ship a journal of pages that could only come from this company. We will not generate 500 location pages overnight. If that is the brief, the call is short.
How I judge whether the idea is real
I ask three questions on the first call. What job did a person do last week that you want a machine to draft? Who checks the output before a customer sees it? What happens on Friday if we turn the feature off? If you cannot answer those, we are not ready to write a statement of work. We are ready to write the FAQ or the SOP first — and that is often the actual project.
I would rather decline a fashionable chatbot than ship something that lies about hours, stock, refunds or a diagnosis. The invoice has my company’s name on it. That is why the no’s are part of the work.
What you should have in writing before you pay anyone
The job in one sentence. The data the model may see. The human who confirms. The metric you will look at in 30 days. The kill switch. The legal name of the vendor. USD price and when the card is charged. Who owns the repo. If a vendor cannot put those on one page, you are buying a demo.
- Nothing is billed by us before you approve a written scope.
- Typical project billing is 50% to start and 50% on delivery, through Stripe.
- Code, design and prompts we write for you transfer on final payment.
The steps — do these in order
- 01
Pick ten queries you can actually rank for
They must match what you sell. Not 3,000 cities. Ten honest pages beat a farm.
- 02
Outline by hand
What the buyer is deciding, the mistakes, the steps, the legal bits. Then draft.
- 03
Add what only you know
How you bill, what you refuse, what broke. If those sentences could be anyone’s, the page is not done.
- 04
Match title, H1 and search
One idea per URL. Canonical. Sitemap.
- 05
Fix speed and NAP before you publish more
A slow template with a clever article still loses Albuquerque.
- 06
Link to the page that takes money
Agency, pricing, contact. SEO without a next step is a hobby.
- 07
Revisit in 60 days
If it did not move impressions or leads, rewrite or kill. Do not add a twin page.
- 08
Refuse the 500-page city spin
If an SEO vendor’s whole plan is that, you already know the answer.
If you want this built as a site, a store, a portal or a production feature, write to me. We scope it on a page, we ship in weekly increments you can click, and you own the work. I will also tell you when the idea is a toy and we should not take your money.
